It's time to arrange the transfer of your utilities! 

Start by contacting the following companies...

 1. Electric/Gas Company

Contact the provider and explain that you are selling your home and need the utilities scheduled to be transferred to your new address the day of closing. You do NOT want them to turn the utilities off but to just transfer. If they are turned off you will incur a new connection fee.

2. TV/Internet/Telephone

Contact all these services to schedule your phone, cable and internet. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to get these services scheduled for installation. If you choose Directv, give them my account number for a discount (shameless plug I’ll get a discount on my bill and you will too).

No need to do anything. The water will transfer automatically when the deed is recorded.

5. Change of Address

The U.S. Post Office has a change of address form that will notify the letter carrier about the change so your mail can be routed to the new address. This does not notify other people or companies that you have moved, you will need to coordinate that yourself.
