Fallston

Bordering the western edge of Harford County, Fallston has a long-standing reputation as the most prestigious zip code in the county.  Perhaps it's due to the many estate communities dotted along the Mountain Road Corridor.  Brick front and even full brick homes are not hard to find in Fallston, nor are 3 or more car garages and multi-acre lots overlooking rolling hills.  The landscape is certainly beautiful and much less congested than other nearby towns.  Despite its prestigious reputation, Fallston is also home to many sprawling farms and modest 1960s and 70s ranchers.  What is notably missing from Fallston is apartments and townhomes, with the exception of the new senior townhome community near Bel Air Road.  Even the older homes in Fallston, while affordable, have a certain stately charm.  If you're concerned about property values, Fallston holds its own.

Previously virtually devoid of large businesses, Fallston is now home to a WalMart Supercenter.  It is also experiencing a rise in restaurant options with the opening of a very popular Texas Roadhouse and a new Mexican restaurant bordering Bel Air Road.  Deeper into Fallston, you won't find much but Mom and Pop shops with the expected charm and good service, but you're never far from the convenience that the Bel Air Road corridor offers.

The hub of the town is the public schools and the nearby Parks and Recreation fields and recreational complex.  These excellent schools have a strong sports heritage and the residents take full advantage of the many outdoor activities for the young and old.  Additionally, Annie's Playground is located in Fallston.  A playground dedicated to a young drunk driving victim, Annie's attracts not only local residents but visitors from as far away as Baltimore County.  The large open field, the Ma & Pa Trail that abuts the grounds, the pavillions, and the large wooden structures are strong attractions on a beautiful day.  The outskirts of Fallston are also close to Mountain Branch Golf Club, known not only for its course but for its beautiful restaurant as well.
