White Marsh

White Marsh’s rise to popularity began with the construction of White Marsh Mall in the early eighties.  The new two-story shopping venue gave rise to decades of sustained development including new housing communities, a library, a variety of restaurants, and more recently the open air small-town-feel Avenue in the heart of it all.  Patrons of The Avenue can enjoy a spa treatment, take in a movie, eat dinner in a quaint pub, and shop for a variety of goods while strolling along a traffic-free promenade style path.  At Christmas, this little village of shops and restaurants is alight and festooned with holiday trimmings, making it a picture perfect holiday shopping experience.  
 
The success of The Avenue has spawned another open air shopping center with a friendly neighborhood feel just a little further up the road and right in the midst of a sprawling upscale housing development that includes condos, brickfront townhomes, and single family homes featuring the latest developments in architectural design, energy efficiency, and style.
 
With Interstate 95 running right alongside yet out of sight of the main shopping district, White Marsh is a commuter’s dream.  It also means a fair amount of employment options right in the residents’ own backyards.  Further, it has attracted the likes of famed Johns Hopkins which erected a medical center in the area.
 
Not to be forgotten are the recreational opportunities that abound.  White Marsh offers parks, playgrounds, ball fields, county sponsored athletics, parades, and the vast Gunpowder State Park and falls just moments away.
